Saturday 6th – We are delighted to announce we have the Blind Woodturner, Chris Fisher, in-store between 10-4. After losing his sight, Chris Fisher started commercial woodturning in 2008 and today demonstrates to enthusiasts around the UK. Chris has attracted the attention of various publications and was recently interviewed by the BBC. So come along and meet Axminsters turner in residence.
Saturday 13th – Our in-store expert Paul Otter will be demonstrating the various features and benefits of UJK Technology Dovetail Jig. Come to store, between 10-4, to experience how simple this jig is to use whilst still producing professional looking joints every time.
Saturday 20th – The bandsaw is often described as the most useful machine in the workshop. Using our Trade SBW3501B Bandsaw Phil will explain, in a practical demonstration, the setup and maintenance of this most versatile of machines. He will also go through blade types, choosing the right accessories and how to get the best results from your machine.
Saturday 27th – An all-new range of Craft machines are being introduced to appeal to woodworking enthusiasts looking for performance and features which exceed an entry-level machine. You’ll be able to get hands-on with the first of these machines – including lathes, drill presses and compressors. This will provide an ideal opportunity to appreciate technical aspects of these machines which have been developed to provide quality and class-leading specification at a highly competitive price – come in between 10-2pm and take a closer look!
We are always looking to offer new and exciting demonstrations – tell a member of the team what you would like to see next! Don’t forget to come in and grab your catalogue – from the comments we’ve already had, I don’t think the first batch will last long!
Personalised smocks were presented to (from left and right) Chris Fisher The Blind Woodturner, Adam Evans and Russell Gibbs.
Seasonal events are the perfect time to get creative and there’s none better than Halloween for learning some new tricks! Here are a few ideas on how to turn your workshop waste into Halloween wonder. These decorations are easy to do, inexpensive and fun to do with your little monsters (monsters, zombies and children must always have adult supervision when operating tools and machinery).

We’ve prepared a selection of templates for you to use with a scroll saw or as a painting outline. We’ve used some of them for our projects, but there’s plenty more to choose from!
Thank you to all those that attended our Open House at our headquarters in Devon. It was great to meet so many people as passionate about tools and machinery as we are. Look out for some highlights in our knowledge piece.
