Saturday 6th – Sunday 7th – We will be attending the Surrey Hills Wood Fair demonstrating a selection of popular craft and hobby tools, machines and accessories. The Wood Fair is full of traditional rural charm celebrating all that is ‘Good about Wood’ in the outstanding beautiful Surrey Hills – we can’t wait to attend!
Saturday 13th – There is a lot of interest in bees these days … Would you like to find out what it is all about?
Our ‘Introduction to Beekeeping’ event will be hosted by a member of the Medway Bee Keepers Association. They will be displaying what equipment is needed and giving a practical overview of what’s required to keep bees. This will be followed by a demonstration by our in-store expert on the Leigh B975 Box Joint & Beehive Jig. This is a free event, with light refreshments provided so come and find out what all the buzz is about!
(There are no live bees included in this demonstration).
Saturday 20th – As the bandsaw is probably the most useful and versatile machine in the workshop, this demonstration is a must for all those who have just acquired or recently changed their bandsaw. Colin Niblett, our in-store demonstrator, will show you between 10-3, how to set up and use your bandsaw correctly using the Axminster Trade Series SBW4300.
Saturday 27th – We are delighted to announce that The Hamlet Wood Carvers and Wormshill Wood Carvers – affiliated to the British Woodcarvers Association – will again be demonstrating in-store between 10-3. This is an ideal opportunity to meet with both professional carvers and hobby enthusiasts who will be glad to offer practical guidance. See you there!
Saturday 27th – An all-new range of Craft machines are being introduced to appeal to woodworking enthusiasts looking for performance and features which exceed an entry-level machine. You’ll be able to get hands-on with the first of these machines – including lathes, drill presses and compressors. This will provide an ideal opportunity to appreciate technical aspects of these machines which have been developed to provide quality and class-leading specification at a highly competitive price – come in between 10-2pm and take a closer look!
I am very excited about the launch of the new 2018 catalogue – I have been with Axminster for over 15 years and enjoyed each and every catalogue, so I’ve felt quite lost without it! Make sure you come in and get your copy before I take them all home!!
Seasonal events are the perfect time to get creative and there’s none better than Halloween for learning some new tricks! Here are a few ideas on how to turn your workshop waste into Halloween wonder. These decorations are easy to do, inexpensive and fun to do with your little monsters (monsters, zombies and children must always have adult supervision when operating tools and machinery).

We’ve prepared a selection of templates for you to use with a scroll saw or as a painting outline. We’ve used some of them for our projects, but there’s plenty more to choose from!
Thank you to all those that attended our Open House at our headquarters in Devon. It was great to meet so many people as passionate about tools and machinery as we are. Look out for some highlights in our knowledge piece.
