Routing and router tables can be seen as a bit of a dark art. Here, Head of Staff Training and Woodworking Tutor, Craig Steele, shines some light on the subject.
What you'll need
Introduction to the Router Table
Getting to grips with a router table and a router can open up a host of possible projects. From making a spice rack to an entire kitchen, the router is at the centre of your project. As part of the Skill Centre At Home series, Craig Steele shows you how to set up the table correctly and how to use it safely.
A good solid table is a must. Craig uses the UJK Professional Table. This cast iron table has huge benefits over any other material used on tables. With its ability to withstand vibration and its stability.
A 1/2″ router mounted to your table allows you to use larger cutters than a 1/4″ version. Craig uses the Bosch GMF 1600 CE Router.
