In this episode of Out of the Woodwork Podcast, host Sean Evelegh talks to Joseph Bray, Furniture Designer, Maker, Educator and Head of Wood School at The Sylva Foundation, a charity that works to bridge the gaps in formal wood education and professional life, as well as finding ways to promote the use of underutilised home grown timbers.
More about Joseph Bray
Having worked as a bespoke furniture designer and maker, Joe turned to teaching and began his route into craft and furniture education at the Rycotewood Furniture making college in Oxford.
He is now Head of the Wood School at the Sylva Foundation.
Successful in an application for a Churchill Fellowship, Joe travelled the world to explore the future of furniture craft education and now uses those experiences to shape The Sylva Wood School and the workshops and courses they offer, inspiring future woodworkers and bridging the gap between formal wood education, and a professional career.
