What you'll need
Pine Cone Trees
Want to get creative with the kids? Why not give our ‘oh-so’ fun pine cone trees project a try?
Part 1 – Select materials and paint
Select your pine cones and the board to mount them on. Using a small paintbrush, paint the pine cones green. For the best results, be sure to get a good coverage. The small brush will give you access to all the nooks and crannies. Allow time for the paint to dry. If you want to speed this part up, use a hairdryer for faster results.
Part 2 – Recreate snow using paint
Next, add some white paint to the tips of the pinecone to represent snow. Paint the tips. Be sure to put a bit on the branches of the Christmas tree.
Part 3 – Decorate
Decorate your Christmas tree the way you would like it. Here, we put some small coloured dots of paint to look like baubles or fairy lights. You could also use glitter to add a bit of sparkle or pipe cleaner tinsel!
Part 4 – Glue
Glue the finished mini Christmas trees to your mounting board. A hot glue gun is the easiest way to do this as it has great gap filling quality. Alternatively, sand a flat on the bottom of the pine cone and use a PVA glue.
Part 5 – Oil your board
Using a food safe oil, oil your board. Follow the drying time before serving the christmas nibbles of your choice.
