In the latest episode of our podcast, Out of the Woodwork, host Sean Evelegh chats to award-winning designer, Hattie Speed, and founder of This Girl Makes.

More about Hattie Speed

A talented designer and maker, Hattie is a graduate of Rycotewood Furniture Centre in Oxford.

She is a staunch advocate for encouraging young people to take up woodworking as a career and particularly working to inspire more women into creative careers.

A former design engineer for Ercol Furniture, Hattie's passion for inspiring future designers and makers saw her launch This Girl Makes, an on and offline community of makers and designers, that aims to celebrate and promote women in craft and design.

Not only a graduate of Rycotewood, Hattie also runs a Saturday club in furniture design and making. She also uses her skills to work with the NHS, facilitating woodwork sessions as rehabilitation therapy for stroke patients and those with brain injuries.
